I’d heard so many wonderful things about Cafe Gratitude, So when a new location opened near Studio Mucci HQ in DTLA, I knew that I had to stop by.
As described on their websites “about “ section:
“Café Gratitude is a collection of 100% organic plant-based restaurants specializing in gourmet cuisines. We strive to create a menu and environment that supports health and sustainability for both our community and the planet.”
Upon entering, we were greeted with such warmth and enthusiasm, I just knew we were in for a great experience. The second thing that I noticed was the lighting and decor, very clean modern and welcoming, the perfect environment for a selfie!
I was lunching with Carlos, Lauren and my friend Marcy. All 3 of them are non vegan/vegetarian but were totally into the experience.
We all ordered the “Elevated” drink (After we saw how awesome Marcy’s looked) which was a pretty sparkling rose water beverage, colored by a splash of beet juice.
We started with one of their pizzas, as the sweet soft-spoken bubbly server recommended, and it was so good that Marcy decided to have it as her main.
I ordered the “Extraordinary” (All of their menu items are named this way) which is basically a coconut bacon BLT wrap. And the names of each dish were spoken to us as affirmations when the food was brought out. “You are extraordinary!” It was pretty cool and not at all as awkward as you’d expect something like this to be.
While we were dining our server came back and offered a question of the day to our table “What gives you hope?” for us to discuss (“or not, no pressure”) as we ate. I am really all about the good vibes, especially in the middle of a stressful busy work week. But I am also somewhat cynical, and in the wrong hands these hippy-dippy shenanigans would be a turn off and the butt of many, many jokes. But everyone at Cafe Gratitude seemed so genuine and happy to be there that I was totally open to whatever they offered… It was actually very refreshing!
I enjoyed my food and the overall experience. To be honest, I was so busy chatting it up with the group that I didn’t eat that much of my wrap, but what I did have was pretty tasty. Both Lauren and Carlos were also happy with what they ordered.
I will totally be back to try other things on the menu, and soak up some more positive vibes.
